When are applications due?

Make a STATEment applications are accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis from our campus partners.

Who can apply?

NMSU current students, faculty, or staff working in partnership with development staff in their area can apply to have their project featured on Make a STATEment. The project must fund a specific program and priority within the NMSU system.

Who decides that a project will be added to Make a STATEment?

The NMSU Advancement staff will review Make a STATEment applications and approve them based on project essentials: urgency of need, team commitment, network size, project appeal, and goal achievement potential.

How much information do I need to provide on the application?

Provide as much information as possible. It is easier to assess project potential if you answer each question specifically and explain why your project will be successful. The project must appeal to a broader audience and have the potential to become viral on social media through the promotion of your project volunteers. In your application, explain how your project is unique and how the funds will be utilized in your area.

What is an appropriate funding goal for projects?

We recommend a fundraising goal of between $2,500 and $24,000. We will consider each project's goal on a case-by-case basis.

Is my donation a charitable contribution?

Gifts to projects featured on Make a STATEment are considered charitable contributions to New Mexico State University. All gifts are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. The minimum when making a gift online is $5.

Will I receive a receipt for my contribution?

Yes! You will receive a gift acknowledgment and tax receipt from New Mexico State University Foundation.

How can I double my donation?

Thousands of companies match gifts to higher education, which can double or triple your gift.

If so, please contact your Human Resources representative for a matching gift form. You may need to provide NMSU’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) on the form, which is 85-0170157.

When will my credit card be charged?

Your credit card is charged immediately upon finalizing your gift on the Make a STATEment website.

Can I give by mail or phone?

Make a STATEment provides a platform to easily make online gifts. If you are interested in giving to a particular project by phone or mail please contact at (575) 646-1613 for assistance.

What do the project giving levels represent?

Make a STATEment project giving levels represent suggested donation amounts with a description of the types of items you will help make possible within each campaign. Individual gifts made on Make a STATEment to NMSU projects combine with other gifts to support the overall project needs. Your contribution might not be allocated directly to a specifically described item; your gift will go where it will do the most good by combining it with the gifts of others to achieve the overall project goals.

Who should I contact with questions about my contribution?
